The UT Dallas MobileLab is a central hub for UTD based research and innovation in the mobile space with a strong focus on user experience and forward looking idea generation. The MobileLab will hosts an environment for creative experimentation and open dialogue between university researchers, industry partners, students that will benefit the entire mobile technology community, enriching it with new ideas and bold approaches to our always on culture.
With the mobile device on the verge of becoming the center of one’s networked social life, the stage is set for the next phase of mobile experience, and MobileLab aims to take advantage of this opportunity. Our approach centers on the user experience, and our research and projects emphasize user centered design and the possibilities of the mobile experience three to seven years out. Potential areas of research include augmented reality, mobile content, real time ad hoc social networks, future generation location aware games and applications, user generated participatory media, and interfaces with virtual worlds and the web.
MobileLab differentiates itself by providing an atmosphere of openness and innovation. We purposefully integrate creative talent with technical talent in a variety of ways in order to generate unexpected, but useful results. In addition, there’s all the resourcefulness of a technology university filled with young, energetic student base, expert faculty oversight, and tremendous opportunities for behavioral research on campus.
UTD MobileLab is cross disciplinary and provides a focus for mobile environments research and talent from across the university. The lab creates a nexus of forward looking design innovation, engineering development, and entrepreneurial strategies. All participants share in the collaborative effort and benefit from the results.
